2023-24 APS Coaching for Women in Data and Digital Program participant Janis Collings shares her story

Why did you decide to take part in the Coaching for Women in Digital program?
Word of mouth - my boss at the time, saw an ad seeking EOIs for the course on our intranet, and asked if I’d be interested in doing it. 

What has been the biggest benefit in participating in this program? 
The importance of self-investment, self-awareness and self-talk – the good, bad & ugly.

How has this program helped you in your current role?
Reinforced that some of my existing approaches/behaviours are optimal, and highlighted where I could improve and incorporate new and changed approaches/behaviours.

Why would you encourage others to be part of the Coaching for Women in Digital program? 
Provides insights, networking and quarantines time for your personal and professional development. 

How did you balance both the commitments for the program and the commitments of your job? 
The program is spaced out well, providing ample time to flag with your stakeholders and team to ensure coverage, and plan ahead. It helped that my boss acknowledged upfront the return on investment of my time as well.

What is your top tip for new program participants?
Be open to share and self-reflect – you’ll have a wonderful cohort experiencing the same or similar issues, and an array of kind, fun and experienced facilitators.
